2-in-1 LoRaWAN PIR and light sensor: presence detection and light level in lux
VISTA SPACE is a battery-powered LoRaWAN PIR and light sensor that detects movement with a passive infrared (PIR) sensor and measures ambient light from 0 to 5,000 lux. It shows when spaces are actually used and how much daylight they receive, so lighting and building services can follow real occupancy.
Data is sent wirelessly over LoRaWAN (EU868, the frequency plan used in the UK and Ireland) for remote monitoring in NAVIXIS or integration into your Building Management System (BMS) as BACnet points via a compatible gateway.
Designed for offices, schools, hotels and residential common areas, VISTA SPACE offers 6-metre, 120° motion detection, up to 10 years* of battery life, contactless NFC set-up and FUOTA V2 remote updates. CE and UKCA marked.

VISTA SPACE combines two essential functions in a single LoRaWAN sensor – PIR presence detection and light level measurement – so buildings can adapt to how they are really used.
Long battery life to limit battery changes and reduce maintenance visits
Direct radio communication with compatible Nexelec devices, without a gateway or LoRaWAN network
Sensor firmware can be updated over LoRaWAN, with no site visit needed
Quick, simple set-up from a smartphone to speed up on-site deployment
Adapting building services to occupants’ needs starts with knowing how spaces are used and how much daylight they receive.
Motion detection and light level measurement are two complementary sources of information for optimising lighting, improving space management and adjusting the operation of building systems – for example switching lights off in empty rooms or dimming them when there is enough daylight.
VISTA SPACE combines these two functions in a 2-in-1 LoRaWAN environmental sensor. The data is transmitted wirelessly and can be integrated into the Building Management System (BMS), in particular via a LoRaWAN-to-BACnet gateway.
For projects that also need to monitor thermal comfort, VISTA MOVE adds temperature and humidity measurement to presence detection and light level in a 4-in-1 LoRaWAN sensor.
VISTA SPACE combines two complementary technologies to monitor activity and lighting conditions in indoor spaces.
The PIR motion sensor detects movement up to 6 metres away with a 120° detection angle, while the light sensor measures actual illuminance in lux (0–5,000 lux) rather than a simple light/dark status. Together, this data lets lighting and equipment follow the activity detected in each space.
Building management systems can use this information to automate operating scenarios based on actual use, such as presence/absence lighting control and daylight-linked dimming.
The PIR motion sensor detects people up to 6 metres away with a 120° angle – useful for lighting, security and temperature control.
Measures ambient light from 0 to 5,000 lux to adapt lighting to available daylight
Motion detection data shows when indoor spaces are actually in use
VISTA SPACE incorporates Nexelec’s L2D1 radio protocol, which enables direct, device-to-device (D2D) local communication between compatible products.
This link works independently of the LoRaWAN infrastructure and needs no gateway for local communication between paired devices.
VISTA SPACE therefore offers two communication options: L2D1 for direct exchanges between compatible devices, and LoRaWAN for remote data collection – meeting the different integration needs of smart buildings.
VISTA SPACE communicates directly with compatible Nexelec devices (device-to-device)
VISTA SPACE can receive remote firmware updates over the LoRaWAN network using FUOTA V2 (Firmware Update Over The Air), a mechanism standardised by the LoRa Alliance.
Fixes, improvements and new features can be deployed to installed devices without routine site visits, and security patches can be rolled out remotely to keep the sensor fleet up to date.
For building operators and managers, remote updates make it possible to maintain equipment over the long term while reducing technical visits.
Powered by a single replaceable CR123 lithium battery, VISTA SPACE offers up to 10 years* of battery life, depending on settings and conditions of use.
Long battery life means fewer battery changes, fewer maintenance visits and lower operating costs – particularly when deploying large numbers of sensors across offices, schools and public buildings.
VISTA SPACE is designed to make presence and light sensors simple to deploy indoors, whether you are equipping a single room or several buildings.
Its compact design fits discreetly into offices, schools, hotels and public buildings. It can stand on a flat surface or be wall-mounted with screws and wall plugs or the adhesive pad supplied, with no mains power or communication cabling.
Thick adhesive suitable for smooth and rough surfaces, providing long-lasting adhesion and requiring minimal maintenance
With NAVIXIS, Nexelec’s IoT platform, the data collected by VISTA SPACE is centralised and available remotely to simplify building monitoring.
The platform lets you view light level data and analyse motion detection information to understand activity and space utilisation across the equipped areas.
For facilities managers and building operators, NAVIXIS makes it easier to monitor sites, analyse the data collected and oversee multiple buildings from a single interface.
VISTA SPACE features contactless NFC technology, so the sensor’s settings can be configured from a compatible smartphone.
Local configuration makes it easy to tailor settings to each environment and simplifies commissioning, with no LoRaWAN connection needed for initial set-up.
For large-scale installations, NFC configuration speeds up the deployment of many sensors.
Adjust measurement and transmission intervals and indicator lights to suit the building and deployment.
NFC configuration directly through the packaging, without unpacking the sensor or using its battery

VISTA SPACE is a 2-in-1 LoRaWAN environmental sensor that combines PIR motion detection and light measurement.
Using LoRaWAN wireless communication, it collects this information remotely for integration into the Building Management System (BMS). Paired with a compatible LoRaWAN-to-BACnet gateway such as Nexelec MASTER PRO or MASTER CORE, the data can be converted into BACnet/IP points and used by controllers and building management systems.
This information can be used to build lighting control scenarios, help reduce energy consumption and adjust equipment operation to the activity detected in each space.
VISTA SPACE makes it easy to deploy large numbers of detection and measurement points without additional communication cabling. NFC configuration, FUOTA V2 updates and up to 10 years* of battery life simplify the installation and maintenance of large sensor networks.
VISTA SPACE is available in two colours, black and white, to suit the look and practical requirements of any interior.
With its compact, minimalist design, this 2-in-1 LoRaWAN PIR and light sensor blends discreetly into offices, meeting rooms, schools, hotels and public buildings.
Its two finishes help keep spaces visually consistent while providing motion detection and ambient light measurement for smarter lighting and space management.
Nexelec’s commitment to more responsible electronics is part of a structured CSR approach, recognised by an EcoVadis Bronze medal.
VISTA SPACE reflects this approach with a replaceable battery, durable design, simplified maintenance and a design intended to extend the product’s service life.
Simple battery replacement and fleet monitoring help minimise premature replacements and unnecessary maintenance visits.

VISTA SPACE by Nexelec is a 2-in-1 LoRaWAN PIR and light sensor for smart buildings. It combines passive infrared (PIR) motion detection – up to 6 metres with a 120° angle – with ambient light measurement from 0 to 5,000 lux. Its data can be used in a building management system (BMS) to control lighting, measure space utilisation and reduce energy use.
VISTA SPACE runs for up to 10 years on a replaceable CR123 lithium battery, operates on the EU868 LoRaWAN frequency plan used in the UK and Ireland, and is CE and UKCA marked.
VISTA SPACE combines two functions:
It does not measure temperature or humidity; for those, see VISTA MOVE.
Yes. A PIR sensor on its own only detects changes in infrared radiation caused by people moving; it does not measure light. VISTA SPACE combines a PIR motion sensor with a separate ambient light sensor that measures illuminance from 0 to 5,000 lux, so a single device reports both presence and light level.
VISTA SPACE detects motion up to 6 metres away using a passive infrared (PIR) sensor, with a detection angle of 120° both horizontally and vertically. This suits individual offices, meeting rooms, classrooms and hotel rooms.
VISTA SPACE measures illuminance from 0 to 5,000 lux, with an accuracy of ±5 lux and a resolution of 5 lux. It reports an actual light level in lux rather than a simple light/dark status, so the data can be used to fine-tune lighting scenarios in buildings.
Yes. VISTA SPACE sends its motion and light level data over LoRaWAN to a compatible building management system, which can then control lighting according to detected activity and available daylight. VISTA SPACE does not switch the lights itself.
By reporting presence and light level, VISTA SPACE lets the building management system switch off or dim lights in unoccupied rooms (absence detection) and reduce artificial lighting when there is enough daylight (daylight-linked control). Actual savings depend on the building, its lighting installation and the control strategy.
Yes. VISTA SPACE transmits its data over LoRaWAN. Using a compatible gateway such as Nexelec MASTER PRO or MASTER CORE, the information can be converted into BACnet/IP points and integrated into a building management system (BMS).
The data can also be used in the NAVIXIS platform, which provides an API and webhooks for third-party systems.
Yes. VISTA SPACE (references X410LS in white and X410LS_BCK in black) uses the EU868 LoRaWAN frequency plan (863–870 MHz), which is the plan used for LoRaWAN in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It can connect to a private LoRaWAN gateway installed on site or to a LoRaWAN network that covers the building.
The sensor is CE and UKCA marked.
No. VISTA SPACE runs on a lithium battery and communicates wirelessly over LoRaWAN, so no power or communication cabling is needed at the sensor. A LoRaWAN infrastructure (gateway and network server) is required to collect its data remotely.
VISTA SPACE is powered by one replaceable CR123 lithium battery and can run for up to 10 years. Actual battery life depends on the settings, transmission frequency and conditions of use; it is not guaranteed.
VISTA SPACE can stand freely or be wall-mounted with screws and wall plugs or with the supplied adhesive pad. Its lockable base with anti-theft screws and its tamper detection keep wall-mounted installations secure.
No. VISTA SPACE uses a passive infrared (PIR) sensor, which detects movement from changes in infrared radiation in its field of view. It does not capture images or identify individuals, so the occupancy information it provides is anonymous.
The L2D1 (Link to Device) radio link is a wireless communication technology that lets two compatible Nexelec devices communicate directly with each other, without a gateway or a LoRaWAN network.
It enables local, device-to-device (D2D) data exchange, in particular to simplify how devices are paired and operate together within a connected building.
This technology provides direct communication with a long radio range, which simplifies installation and reduces dependence on the network infrastructure.
Yes. VISTA SPACE supports FUOTA V2 (Firmware Update Over The Air), a mechanism standardised by the LoRa Alliance. When updates are made available, fixes, security patches and improvements can be deployed remotely over a compatible LoRaWAN infrastructure, without visiting each sensor.
VISTA SPACE is a 2-in-1 LoRaWAN sensor for presence detection and light level measurement. VISTA MOVE is a 4-in-1 LoRaWAN sensor that adds temperature and humidity measurement.
Choose VISTA SPACE for lighting control and space utilisation, and VISTA MOVE when you also need to monitor thermal comfort. For CO₂ and indoor air quality as well, VISTA WAVE combines five measurements.
